P!nk

Pink brought her Trustfall Tour to the Chase Center in San Francisco on October 14, 2023 and all 18,000 people in attendance were there for it. Not only does Pink (Alecia Moore) have a pitch-perfect and amazing voice – she could stand stock still at a microphone for two hours and wow all 18,000 fans – but she’s an accomplished aerialist who began the show by emerging from a set of lips at the top of the stage while wired up, then did flips and turns while confetti blasted around her before landing.

The whole evening was a master class in large scale production and in getting the party started. Pink had dancers, backup singers, a great backing band, colorful costume changes, flamingos built around segue scooters, pyro blasting in the background, dancers acting out lyrics with a contemporary dance routine at the edge of the catwalk while Pink sang in the background, perfect cover songs (“Heartbreaker” by Pat Benatar, “Me and Bobby McGee” by Kris Kristofferson, and “No Ordinary Love” by Sade) plus poignant moments like sitting at the piano singing “When I Get There,” about her deceased dad, and then daughter Willow coming out onstage to sing “Cover Me In Sunshine.” And then there was the grand finale of the evening, which everyone knows about and has seen on Tik Tok videos and IG reels – it’s when Pink harnesses up and flies around the entire stadium interior doing flips and landing on perches and waving to everyone as she flies close to the crowd overhead. It’s amazing to see live.

Pink is a real one. She’s charismatic, extremely vocally talented, physically talented, the clearly admired leader of her traveling tour team, she’s connected to her music, and she values her fans. She was funny, too, getting chatty with the crowd about loving twizzlers and sour candy, even tossing a pack to a fan in the front row, and talking about loving San Francisco and how back in the day she’d spent lots of time there and how the lesbians of the city had adopted her. You’ve got your standoffish performers who are just making a living and phoning it in, and you get a vibe from that and feel it, but Pink is the opposite with her performing exuberance and good natured crowd interaction.

The show was broken into four acts with 23 songs, including the So What grand encore, and ran for about two hours. Other hits of the night included “Get The Party Started,” “Just Like A Pill,” and “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)”. The crowd loved it all, and prepare to see lots of P!nk merch being worn around town for the next few months.

Openers Grouplove filled the Chase Stage with songs like “Deleter” and “Itchin’ On a Photograph,” and singers Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi put on a good show, with Hooper’s headbanging hair being a real highlight. There are a few women of rock with long red hair who can really throw it around right (Hooper, Kat Leon of Holy Wars) and it’s a great visual, especially when paired with a guitar-slaying bandmate.
