Becky Hill is a force of vocal power and performance that San Francisco’s Fillmore stage could barely contain. If you can see her in the next few weeks on her 2024 North American tour, do it, because your next opportunity will be in the nosebleeds at your nearest huge stadium.
Hill and her band plus two backup singers treated the crowd of fervent fans to a nonstop party set of 21 hits on the night of November 9th, and the sold-out crowd danced the night away to bangers like “Crazy What Love Can Do,” “Disconnect,” “Lose Control,” and “Wish You Well.” Typically at the Fillmore the upstairs balcony section is full of people sitting, looking down at the show, eating, drinking, and talking, but at this show the balcony was nearly empty because they were all down on the floor dancing, and those who stayed upstairs were dancing too.
The night ended on a high note with “Remember,” with fans staying until the last note, then streaming out to collect their commemorative posters, good vibes and fun times pushing them out onto the street until their next opportunity to see Becky Hill live.
Opener Alicia Creti is an incredibly talented songstress in her own right – I can’t remember a time when the crowd went so nuts over an unknown-to-them artist. With a simple keyboard setup center stage, she Amy Winehoused the hell out of her material and had fun bantery interactions with the crowd to boot.
