D4vd came to the Warfield in San Francisco on July 30th and spent the opening night of his Withered tour playing to an excited sold out crowd. 20 year old David Anthony Burke played Lollapalooza last year, Coachella this year, and now he’ll be busy for the next few months on this North American tour before hopping over to Europe. We were lucky to get him in San Francisco for night one, and he definitely delivered.
D4vd kicked the evening off with major energy with “What Are You Waiting For,” and over the course of about 20 songs he did a duet with opener Bryant Barnes on “I’d Rather Pretend,” and sang favorites like “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide.” Fans were smashed against the barricade, phones up the whole time and singing along, with D4vd telling one guy on the floor to keep livestreaming, while one girl held up a To Do List sign that said “Go to D4vd Show – worth the 11 hour wait.” These fans were there for him and stayed locked in for the whole show.
D4vd has a great origin story, with making videos on YouTube but getting copyright noticed for them, so his mom urged him to make his own music and he did, putting tracks up on SoundCloud and then TikTok and developing a huge following. With several EPs and singles and collaborations, Withered is his first full-length album, and judging by the reaction of his fans, they’re loving it.
Opener Bryant Barnes played a great opening set with songs the crowd knew and gave out some good energy and talent to get the show started. He spent time after his set at the merch booth taking photos with fans, so you can look forward to that on tour stops coming up.
