The Velveteers delivered a memorable performance at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco on March 11, 2025, as part of their eagerly awaited A Million Knives Tour and the current release of their album. This marks their second album in their discography, following their debut, Nightmare Daydream, released in 2021. The intimate venue provided an ideal setting for the band’s dynamic energy and captivating sound.
April Flowers, a native SF indie rock band, started the night off, followed by Girl Tones—who are currently on tour with The Velveteers—taking the middle slot. The sister duo of Girl Tones delivered a straight-up rocking set with tremendous enthusiasm and crowd engagement. The buzz was high, and the fans eagerly moved toward the stage between sets in hopes of getting closer to The Velveteers.
When the overhead music stopped and the house lights dimmed, the audience erupted in excitement, eagerly awaiting the band’s arrival. Hailing from Boulder, Colorado, The Velveteers took the stage by storm, exuding infectious enthusiasm. Frontwoman Demi Demitro immediately captivated the crowd with her striking vocals and commanding stage presence. Her unique blend of grit and elegance set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
The setlist featured a well-chosen mix of beloved tracks and songs from their latest album, A Million Knives. They opened the show with “All These Little Things,” highlighting their distinctive sound—a thrilling combination of garage rock, punk, and psychedelic elements. The driving rhythms from Demi’s guitar, paired with the powerful drumming of Baby and Johnny, created an immersive sonic experience.
A highlight of the night was the performance of “Take It From The Top,” a powerful anthem that had the entire crowd singing along passionately. The emotional depth of the lyrics, combined with the band’s dynamic instrumentation, forged a deep connection between the band and the audience. This moment truly encapsulated The Velveteers’ essence—raw, unfiltered passion that resonates deeply.
The camaraderie among the band members was palpable throughout the concert. Their playful banter and genuine connection added an extra layer of enjoyment to the performance. Between songs, Demi shared stories about their journey and the inspiration behind their music, further endearing them to their fans.
Throughout the show, the band pushed creative boundaries, exploring new sounds and structures. The hauntingly beautiful “Charmer and the Snake” showcased Demi’s impressive vocal range and emotional resonance, while the frenzied energy of “Suck The Cherry” had the crowd dancing and completely absorbed in the music.
The encore was a triumphant finale to an already exhilarating night, as The Velveteers returned to the stage with a high-energy rendition of “Fix Me,” leaving the audience breathless and craving more. It was a fitting conclusion to an evening filled with raw emotion, powerful performances, and a shared love for music.
The Velveteers’ concert at the Rickshaw Stop was not merely a display of talent, it was a celebration of connection—between the band and their fans, and among the fans themselves. As they continue their A Million Knives Tour, it’s evident that The Velveteers are solidifying their place in the modern rock scene with each electrifying performance. If you get the opportunity to see them live, don’t hesitate; it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
