Everything Everything brought their Get to Heaven full-album show to the Bellwether in Los Angeles on September 26, 2026, and they couldn’t have asked for a more receptive roomful of fans. All through the night the singalong stretched from the front of the venue to the back walls, and it was a perfect example of a show made for diehard fans who were there for the love of band and song. You’ve seen in this space my lament that often times in Los Angeles the crowd is made up of people who go to shows for a fun night out and to be seen, but this was one hundred percent not the case here. This night was all about the music.
Opener Psymon Spine was amazing, a perfect compliment to Everything Everything to start the night. Their set was energetic, fun, quirky, and their last song was Bjork’s “Army of Me,” so I mean, come on, slam dunk. Their song “Jumprope” is an immediate playlist add. It looked like some barricaders were familiar with their work, but it’s guaranteed that the band left with a lot of new fans, me included.
Anticipation was high for Everything Everything, and when they came onstage people were ready. Fans knew ahead of time that the album would be played out of order, and reviews are mixed about whether that was a good choice, with consensus leaning towards yes, that it lent a freshness and an element of surprise to the show.
Jonathan Higgs has a voice and presence that commands a room, and he’s super engaging to watch. Alongside him were Alex Robertshaw on guitar and keyboards, Jeremy Pritchard on bass, Michael Spearman on drums, and Peter Sene touring on keyboards, and the five of them played tight and polished together. There’s a lot going on in these songs, and seeing them deliver all of it while keeping their connection with the audience was impressive. There were some songs with call and response, and the crowd was there for it, so Higgs had plenty of help with his one thousand background vocalists.
The set gave us “The Wheel (Is Turning Now),” “No Reptiles,” and deluxe-edition tracks “Only as Good as My God” and “Hapsburg Lippp,” which made this an especially good night for people who know and love the deeper pockets of the record. Hearing these songs together was a reminder of how much there is to love about Get to Heaven, and it was amazing how well the band brought it all to life. They’re accomplished musicians, but there’s also so much charisma and enjoyment in their performance.
We got “Cough Cough” and “Cold Reactor” for the encore, which is a pretty fantastic pair of songs to get after an already generous helping of favorites. There’s a thread on Reddit right now about “which EE song would you play for someone to introduce them to the band?” and lots of people came up with both of these songs, so the band knew what they were doing closing it out with them.
For the photography portion of the evening, it’s always a fun challenge with The Bellwether continuing to make photographers work for light, but the vibe and mood created by the lighting tech for the fans, plus the great sound, plus the size and arrangement of the venue is unbeatable. It’s such a great place to see a band.
Everything Everything put on a really great show, and the crowd on this night loved it. If they play near you, or even not near you, get your ticket now. For all the latest news and info, check out everything-everything.co.uk.
