Halou came to The Guild on December 27th as the opening act for Thievery Corporation, and the venue was packed to capacity by the time they took the stage since no ticketholders wanted to miss the chance to see them up close and personal, with many fans there specifically there to see them.
Fronted by husband and wife team Rebecca Coseboom on vocals and Ryan Coseboom on guitar, Halou has been on the scene for many years, recording under different configurations– prior to Halou they performed as Stripmall Architecture and made several excellent albums. For this 2025 Thievery Corp tour they’re traveling with bandmates Andrei Pasternak on bass, Erica Mulkey on keys and backing vocals, and Sergey Ledovsky on drums.
During the 11-song set they played favorites like “The Diver,” and closed things out with “It Will All Make Sense In The Morning,” but in the middle we got a deep cut cover of Depeche Mode’s “It Doesn’t Matter Two” which fit Coseboom’s voice perfectly and was great to hear live.
Halou’s warm electronica and well-crafted songs are always a crowd pleaser, and for many fans this would be their last live show of 2025, and they were happy to be in attendance and send the year out on an emotional live music high note.
