W.A.S.P. delivered a ferocious, volcanic performance at The Warfield Theater in San Francisco on December 13, 2024. It was truly a night to remember, marking an extraordinary return for the iconic band, with Blackie Lawless leading the charge. The energy in the venue was electric—a testament to the band’s long legacy. Blackie’s impressive performance, especially considering his past back issues, showcased his unwavering passion and commitment.

As the band kicked off the show with “I Wanna Be Somebody,” the crowd erupted, their voices blending with the fierce instrumentation from the stage. The setlist was a nostalgic journey through W.A.S.P.’s history, and playing their debut album from 1984 in its entirety was a rare treat that fans will cherish forever. Blackie’s on-stage charisma was palpable; he effortlessly maneuvered deep backbends while holding onto his stainless-steel spine skeleton mic stand, a unique symbol of the band’s theatrical flair.

The carnival-themed stage, adorned with skulls and chains, created a hauntingly beautiful backdrop for the performance, while the projected live concert footage from the early days added a layer of nostalgia that resonated deeply with long-time fans, a.k.a. WASP Nation. The medleys towards the end of the set, particularly the mash-up of “The Real Me” (The Who) with “Forever/Headless,” were standout moments, showcasing the band’s creativity and ability to blend styles seamlessly.

Closing with “Blind in Texas” left the audience on a high note, their excitement echoing in the theater long after the last chord was struck. Blackie’s declaration that this performance might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience made it all the more special. For those fortunate enough to be in attendance, this concert will undoubtedly be etched in memory as the pinnacle of W.A.S.P.’s live performances.
