David Kushner and his three piece band took the stage in front of many adoring fans at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Saturday, November 23rd, and kept them riveted with his deep, soulful voice for an hour and fifteen minute set. This was the last night of Kushner’s The Dichotomy Tour, and he gave it his all for his final North American performance.

Kushner’s young, largely female fans in the crowd were all eyes on him for songs like “You and Me,” “Mr. Forgettable,” and his Tik Tok smash hit “Daylight,” singing songs back word for word. Kushner’s band was on point the whole show, backing his intense vox.

Lots of artists who’ve gotten their breaks via Tik Tok have come through the Bay Area playing live these past few years, but Kushner is a little unusual in his serious and mature message. He talked about his faith, and the subjects of his songs were heady with love and illness, like how “Mr. Forgettable” is about his grandfather enduring Alzheimers.

Kushner continues The Dichotomy Tour in Europe beginning in February, and all the latest news and information about it can be found at davidkushnermusic.com and @david.kushner.
