KK’s Priest took the stage at Ace of Spades on the evening of October 6, 2024, delivering a powerful set that echoed the true spirit of classic heavy metal. The venue, a beloved hotspot for rock and metal enthusiasts, was packed with dedicated fans eager to witness the reunion of Judas Priest alumni K.K. Downing and fellow band members, including vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens, who previously fronted the legendary band.

The energy in the room was electric as the band launched into their opening number, “Hellfire Thunderbolt” from their 2021 album Sermons of the Sinner. This surely amped up the crowd, who roared with excitement. The blend of old-school metal fans and newer followers created a diverse atmosphere, united by a shared love for heavy music. The audience was enthusiastic, headbanging and singing along, showcasing a palpable sense of camaraderie among metalheads.

KK’s Priest focused heavily on Judas Priest songs, such as “The Ripper,” “Night Crawler,” “Burn in Hell,” and “Before the Dawn,” to name a few. The band hit some classic tunes that satisfied their long-time fans, like “Strike the Viper” and “Reap the Whirlwind.”

Midway through the set, the band delivered a heartfelt rendition of “Diamonds and Rust” (a Joan Baez cover).

Visually, the concert was spectacular, featuring an impressive light show that complemented the band’s heavy sound. The stage was adorned with classic metal imagery, and at times, the backdrop displayed vivid graphics that enhanced the storytelling aspect of their performance. The production values were top-notch, ensuring that every note rang crystal clear throughout the venue.

One of the most commendable aspects of the concert was K.K. Downing’s engaging rapport with the audience. He frequently interacted with fans, inviting them to participate and share in the experience. “Raise Your Fists” was a perfect song to end the show with. The synergy between the members was evident, with Downing and guitarist AJ Mills exchanging riffs seamlessly, bringing a revitalized sound that paid homage to their musical roots.

The blend of old and new music, coupled with a dynamic performance and strong connection with fans, made for an unforgettable night.
