Sussex lads Keane hit the stage of the Greek in Berkeley on September 4th for the opening night of their Hopes and Fears 20 tour, and were greeted by a sold out, in-love crowd who cherished every minute of the hit-filled set.

Singer Tom Chaplin, keyboardist and songwriting mastermind Tim Rice-Oxley, plus bandmates Richard Hughes and Jesse Quin hadn’t been on the Greek’s stage for over a decade, and with people coming from all over the country and the world for opening night (one fan on Reddit flew in from Vietnam!) the band gave the crowd what it wanted – a great show over a 21-song set that included favorites like “Bedshaped,” “Somewhere Only We Know,” and “Everything Changes.”

Chaplin told a few stories in between songs, including a bit about the time surrounding his rough patch after Hopes and Fears came out, and how Rice-Oxley tried to draw him out of his house. Now, these many years later, he looks fit as a fiddle, his voice in excellent shape, and the band looks ready and willing to be on the road for many upcoming dates across the US.
