Greta Van Fleet took the stage at Oakland Arena on August 8, 2023, gazing out into the roaring crowd and kicking off a celebration of their newest release, Starcatcher. From the first chords of “The Falling Sky” to the explosive energy of “The Indigo Streak,” each song provoked a massive response from the crowd.

The band then unleashed a transcendent version of “Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer),” accompanied by a jam session between guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka, and drummer Danny Wagner. Jake’s solos harmonized flawlessly with the drums, while Danny’s drums simultaneously mesmerized the crowd, with Josh Kiszka’s vocals tying everything together.

Pyro and fireworks illuminated were a constant background feature, rivaling stage shows of iconic bands like KISS, showcasing rock theatrics alongside their new songs. Tracks like “Sacred the Thread” and “The Archer” commanded the stage with their grandiose guitar solos. Jake’s prowess as a guitarist seized the crowd’s attention repeatedly, likely powering a new generation of air guitar heroes.

For the encore, Greta Van Fleet returned to the stage with “Light My Love,” an emotionally charged moment that felt deep and personal, and showed how the band wants to unite generations within the rock and metal communities.

Greta Van Fleet’s Starcatcher Tour is solidifying their position as rock music juggernauts. Their commitment to both their new record and the classics makes for an unforgettable show.
